Allow me a moment, sirs, to shake my fists at the heavens:

Okay, I just finished work for the evening and checked in on the Oilers and YOU'VE GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME. Losing 2-0 late in the third to the fucking St. Louis Blues? When we had the chance to clinch a playoff spot?? With Jason Bachashihuauacasasda in goal???

What the hell is the matter with these guys? Granted, I didn't watch the game so I don't know what the flow and chances have been like, but fuck! Why are we playing like this? Why are we so bad?

Anyhow. Please disregard this all if the Oilers come back to win.

Hemsky. Dvorak. Roloson. Bad hangovers? Hot goalie. Power play with the usual tremendous puck control and utter lack of imagination. Blues team playing entirely between the hash marks but still beating the Oilers to the puck in the hard places.

Well thank goodness we were able to help break the longest losing streak in St. Louis's franchise history.

Oilers played like they spent last night with Cheech and Chong until the third and then couldn't get it done.

Extremely disappointing.

How dare we easily make it into the playoffs?

The Edmonton Oilers only know how to get in (or almost get in) via uphill battle.

Over the past few weeks, it's becoming more and more apparent that there is something wrong with the overall mindset of the Oilers team. It's becoming almost like a pattern. Oilers come in against a poor team (see: Minnesota, Chicago) and do their best to look sloppy and plain lazy. The other team proceeds to take advantage of this and pops in a goal or two. The Oilers crap their pants between periods and pour it on with 58 shots in the third. Sometimes they tie it up, sometimes (tonight) they don't.

I mean, doesn't this enrage everyone else? The ability to dominate is obviously there, because when they're desperate they completely control the play. They just seem to lack the initiative to win a game "just 'cuz."

The thing that stumps me is, what do you do in that situation to purge the poison? Fire the coach? Get rid of a whole lot of players with the supposed wrong mindset?
