Boycott EA Sports

Consider this permission to punch Eric Staal in the balls if you ever see him.

This is like watching the Zapruder film over and over: "Back and to the left. BACK and to the LEFT" or in this case "he wins the DRAW to the RIGHT." Same shit.

I still love you, Jussi.

All I could think during that whole what if diatribe is...didn't you win the bloody Cup? And isn't it the Oilers who had all summer to think about what could have been and having had to lose the Cup in one game?

I know it's meant to be a cool little sales pitch video and what not, but it smacks a little too close to home.

The Zapruder Film analogy has already been taken in the Oilogosphere.

Why was Roloson in net?

I'm OK with this, comfortable in the knowledge that everyone in the U.S. that sees it will think: "Who's that team in red? Didn't the Rangers win the Cup this year? When's basketball start?", and that everyone in Canada will have been smart enough to buy 2K7 instead.

I agree with Neil, though I'll still be happy to punch Eric Staal in the nuts.

Apologies, Mister Mudcrutch. I was drunk when I wrote this, if that helps.

neil: I recently bought 2K7 for the original Xbox. As a longtime EAer, it marked my first venture into the 2K, and as it stands, I don't think a game has ever been more frustrating. I was thinking about doing a post about this; there's just so much I hate.

Yes, icon passing is a great idea and very useful, but that's all the credit I'll give. The menus are terrible, line changes only seem to work half the the time, there's no noticeable difference between players when it comes to shooting and passing — but most amazingly to me, there's no analog deke control, which pretty much reduces you to the old cut-across-the-crease cheat if you want to score in a shootout or on the breakaway. Of course, they offer, like, ten pre-packaged dekes, but you have to hold down the trigger, move the right analog in a certain direction, release the trigger when you want to actually move... it's overly complicated and basically useless.

EA may be more arcade-y, but its feel and useability is just so much better that I don't understand what people see in 2K7. If I could take the icon passing and grinding on the boards control and drop it into EA, I'd have everything I need.

Am I missing something here?

Meh, no worries Mike. Truth be told, your site gets more traffic and I was just looking for cheap hits.

I think today's trade gives all reason to laugh at Carolina.

And bitch that we couldn't top what LA gave up.

Big mistake. Staal is so cursed now. He's calling karmic fire down on the heads of that whole syphilitic brood.

Chris, I'm not going to try to correct your opinion, it's yours and that's that. I just prefer the 2K games. The EA Sports series are the iPods of gaming, their pick-up-and-go quality is what endears them to people.

This probably explains why I bought an iRiver player over an iPod.

Colby nailed in on the head...if there is such a thing, karmic vengeance will rain upon their heads in a hail of goalposts, crossbars, and broken legs.

I find that peculiar because I think Staal had one of the worst face-off percentages last season.
