Nedved redux

Here's a little NHL 94 action that you'll never see in real life: Petr Nedved clobbering a defenceman in the corner.

Tonight's big matchup has the Oil taking on the hated Dallas Stars, with Nedved in the lineup. An Oil loss would pretty much prove that this team blows (I still refuse to believe that Vancouver is a good team, however -- perhaps a win tonight will reverse this strange new cosmic order that now makes up the Northwest Division). Will Nedved make any difference at all, or will the remnants of his groin simply lay on the ice, pointless, like so much chicken livers?

Replay adds a cinematic reference. See Nedved fall back, and to the left. Back, and to the left. Back, and to the ...

That clip more than any other convinced me that the NHL must adopt no-touch icings.

So w/ about a dozen minutes left in the game I became disgruntled and started flipping through See Magazine and had a pretty good couple of laughs at Fish's "Benson Happenings" featuring #47. Ha. Little did I know that much bigger laughs were coming soon in the form of 47/Stefan/83. That was fucking brilliant. 47 owes 83 a pint.

They ran that? Awesome! I drew all of the Oilers in that comic as a "guest" of Bill Benson.

And YES: amazing goal! It almost made me forget how terrible this team is. With Smid out, Lowe has to make a deal for a defenceman, even if its goddamn Tom Poti.

Pssh. We'll be seeing plenty of Tom Gilbert before any trade happens, I'm sure.

Tonight sure was the night of "horribly dropped leads". Some more horribly than others. But seriously, Habs, Oilers, Bruins, Wings, and Panthers all ended up losing. Shit.

Also, Mike, I shoulda known that was you on the Benson, what with the accurate renderings of 47 + 94... Hilarious. I still intend to send you a pic. of us posing with your painting of "Golf Course Smytty" (Not sure if you remember me tellin' you about this) Next time I'm at Clay's with a camera...

Also, Chris, I can't wait to see some T. Gilbert. I can't say I've checked in on his progress, but I recall really liking him in the pre. I'm gonna check that now.

Cheers boys,

Craig

Go Cogliano & Co.!!

T. Gilbert 19 pts. in 31 games with W-B/S. I say call him up.

Also, nice to see TSN let Rod Phillips take the audio for their replay of the Stefan/Hemsky Incident.

Hey Craig,

I would forever be grateful if you could send a pic of the "Ryan Smyth On a Golf Course" painting. I'm still kicking myself for not getting a snap when it was finished.

Re: "horribly dropped leads"

I guess that's what happens when you don't have the "Glengarry Leads"
