So...

Anyone actually pay attention to this game? I Fenwicked my way through the first period, but tuned out for the rest. Looks like Marty Reasoner and Tom Gilbert did well for themselves. But it's mildly disturbing we went to a shootout with Phoenix, no?

I had no idea we even played today. Who's winning?

Not really, considering the rosters. It had to be the most inexperienced lineup the Oil sent out since, uh, last season. When Syvret is the 2nd most experienced guy, you know the defense isn't really representative of opening night. Combined NHL games from the back end tonight: 149. Over half of those from Smid. Not a lot of experience up front either, but I'm too lazy to do the game numbers.

In any case, a win's a win. The Falmes finally got to say the same tonight.

Meh, PM , as much as preseason gets hopes going the reality is that it means nothing unless you're one of the guys trying to stick.

The lineups are full of kids and minor leaguers and there's no motivation for the vets other then to stay healthy, unless you're Ethan Moreau.

Still, we did win.

Suck it Phoenix! Whooo!

Sounds like Garon played well (40 shots, 1 goal) and Schremp got an assist. He also missed in the shoot-out (shot wide).

I think Schremp and Pouliot played themselves out of spots - back to back penalties for Pouliot, and the offensive specialist, the only rookie Oiler shooter, shoots wide??

Only 6 regulars in the lineup tonight and Garon stood on his head. Our Goalie tandem looks stronger than it has in 10 years. Return of the BOA tonight with Cogs in the pivot between Pensky.
