Don't look now...

... but some dude who looks a lot like — and indeed, even shares the exact same first and last name as — useless tit/offensive black hole Joffrey Lupul is currently third in team scoring in Philadelphia with 3-6-9 after eight games.

Separated at birth, perhaps?

Did Stauffer steal Chris! identity and write this post?

I always said, don't give up on Lupul yet! "Young offensive player with skills" is usually a pretty good bet!

Admittedly, I made an exception on giving up on Lupul if it would net us the electric Joni Pitkanen. So, as always, I'm an idiot.

Allow me to rehash my sentiments from Canada Day:

"I have no doubt that that fucker's going to score forty for Philly, and I still like the trade."

Don't look now, but someone who looks the same as, has the same firstand last name of Kevin Lowe was recently resigned as Oilers GM. For another 4 years.

That's what happens when you get away from the vicious, backbiting Edmonton media and under the wing of the see-no-evil, nurturing Philadelphia media.

Somebody has to ride Briere's coat-tails.

Team 1260 reporting that Pisani has been cleared for full off-ice workouts, and has regained 20 pounds.

Nobody better start hoping. Seriously, I don't want to read any fuckin' hope. That'll just goad the Hockey Gods into making him lose a hand in a skate sharpener or something.

not to worry, as we get closer to the playoffs, his play will fade faster than Pierre McGuire's hairline.

I suppose this is as good a warmup post as any in the face of the solid-drubbing-to-be-had at the hands of a vengeful Minny Wild tonight.

nice.

Minny had 2 goals on 3 shots in the 3rd? What the hell happened?

Would anyone truly want Gene Principe's job, snivelling around locker rooms after PPV broadcasts until he gets kicked out?

Yeesh.

Anyone see this game? I was at the Raptors...

The Dwayne Roloson Experience.

backstrom had the night off = Oilers win? 2 points is 2 points!

Brutal night by Lupul... the world is right after all.

Roli got well and truly screwed by his own Dmen on two of the 4 goals.

But the rest of the game was extremely fun to watch. Hemsky's goal in regulation was sick and the SO one was hilarious!!Raffi was on fire! (What happened to him in the offseason??) Thanks to my buddy who thought the game would be boring and gave his tickets away...to me!!

I'm trying not to hope... but it's getting harder. Fun to watch... I can live with fun to watch.

Oh and we all saw the Lupul thing coming. You know we did.

Hey, speaking of streaky, frequently offensively challenged forwards, when was the last time Raffi Torres got three assists in one game?

Bantam?

Aside from the Oilers' video highlights being from Minny Wild's telecast, it was damn fun to watch. They were actually creative in the offensive zone... throwing the puck back to the D from the half-wall. Who'd a thunk it? GOIL!

Don't be fooled... Lupul would be the same old guy if he was here. I said it before and I'll say it again, a fellow of his nature is better suited to the East than West. Grabia noted what a damning review of the East that might be, and I don't know if I disagree entirely.

Probably doesn't hurt being on a high-flying offensive team and the 1st PP with Briere.

Make that Joffrey Lupul: 4-6-10. Which will bring in the face-rubbing and the head-scratching and the taunts of ineffectiveness etc. etc. Yes, the CFP trade sure looks fair now!

In other news, Ryan Smyth scores the game winner over the Falmes yesterday.

Agree to the depths of my soul on this. His value would have continued to plummet in Edmonton. And, honestly, how could Lowe have done any better than Pitkanen on July 1st?

Even if Pitkanen fails here, I think Lowe did well with this deal. Keep in mind that we likely wouldn't have been able to re-sign Jason Smith this summer anyhow...
