jesus... anyone wanna place bets on who's next?I'm going to go with Cogliano getting... spinal meningitis.
Good God. You guys couldn't catch a break with a butterfly net. Kind of like your goaltending.
anyone wanna place bets on who's next?An Ed Jovanovski hip check sends Ales Hemsky flying; on the way down, he breaks his neck and slices open Shawn Horcoff's jugular with his skate. Dustin Penner, who witnesses the whole thing on LW, is overcome with grief and kills himself.
A tradition is born!
Roloson's pretty old, isn't he?
Thank Allah we didn't throw money at that old, injury plagued bum Ryan Smyth, eh?
I don't understand. I see the picture, but I thought you said bad news.
Thank Allah we didn't throw money at that old, injury plagued bum Ryan Smyth, eh?I know. Mouth-breathing Oilers fans really get my goat, yammering on web boards today about how Smyth is a bum and basically saying everything that is the total opposite of the truth (Smyth is more injury-prone than other players, that he doesn't produce enough to warrant $6 million on the open market and that he's a me-first player).Meanwhile, mums the word when we sign an actually injury prone, much more one-dimensional player for just as long as they balked on with Smyth. Sorry, I guess that just turned into another Ryan Smyth rant...
Sorry, I guess that just turned into another Ryan Smyth rant...Speaking of which, did anyone see the highlights from the Avs-Flames game? Smyth had two of the flukiest, most garbage points I have ever seen, and then beat Kiprusoff in the shootout for the win. God I miss him.
Well, those same mouth-breathers have also been yammering (great word) about MacT not playing the kids enough. Those dumbfucks are about to get their wish...in pain!
Er...that's not to say the Oilers' D is worth two shits when Souray is in the lineup, but throwing another baby to the dingos isn't what I'd call progress.
This could be good news. A month without him might give our powerplay time to develop without thinking point shot all the time.
A month without him might give our powerplay time to develop without thinking point shot all the time.Oh no, Jarret Stoll is still there. Point shots galore!
Wow. I'm really taken aback. This season is a perfect storm of incompetent management and bad luck.
You are so right Simon... so right. I'm going to need more beer... Go Oil!
In other heartening news, my football team's fullback just accidentally sawed his fingertips off:http://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/story/2007/10/16/roughriders-szarka-fingers.html
I'm going to miss that cannon of a slapshot echoing off the boards after it whips past the net on the power play.
This is a really nice opportunity for our young guys. We all just need to work together as a team. No one player is bigger than the team. We just have to play 60 minutes out there. Give a 110%. Really work hard as a team. I'm excited about our team and where we stand -- our young guys are really coming along. We just need to work together as a team, give 110%. I'm looking forward to seeing how our young guys respond. This prepares us well for the playoff run, when we will have to work together as a team and give 110%. All it takes is a good 60 minutes. I like where our team is going and the young guys we have coming up. I'm looking forward to seeing Greene respond to the challenge.
All good points, sacamano. Now though, the guys are going to need to crank it up to 115% per cent. Maybe even 120% ... but is that sustainable for the full sixty minutes? And the most important thing is finding chemistry and gelling. Just check the fan boards for all the bad teams, year in and year out, and the message is consistent; they have gel problems. Plenty of talent ... no gel. It's all about the gel.
Most photos I've seen of Souray show he has no problem with the gel.It looks to me that the young guys have the pedal to the floor already. Its our vets that are the problem. Well, those few that aren't already on the injury list. At least the rink maintenance guys around the league won't have to replace busted glass and dented boards around the nets for a while.
What do you guys think is the longest losing streak the Oilers will have this season?I say even if we hit 25 losses in a row, MacT will get an extension and a statue outside of rexall.
I say even if we hit 25 losses in a row, MacT will get an extension and a statue outside of rexall. If you're going to blame someone in Oilers management for our teams' woes, MacT is at best third on your list.
I blame KLo as well...but his contract has already been extended for being such a great guy and word is his statue is currently being constructed...and it's made entirely of gold! :o118 Ave is also being renamed KLo Way:)
[T]hrowing another baby to the dingos isn't what I'd call progress.Line of the day, boys and girls, followed closely by:Just check the fan boards for all the bad teams, year in and year out, and the message is consistent; they have gel problems. Plenty of talent ... no gel. It's all about the gel.Especially in LA.So is the fact that we're always going pointshotpointshotpointshot a flaw with MacTavish or a flaw with Hemsky? I know this goes back at least to Brewer (that's when I started noticing stuff and not just letting things wash over me), but how deep is this fundamental PP problem? Because seriously, when we don't have Chris Pronger on the point, that strategy? Kind of garbage, at least on its own. Especially when we had Smytty down low, as well as Horcoff, Torres, etc.Word verification: btsywoe. Oddly appropriate?
