Oilers go all, 'Hey, what the hell, let's add another centre,' trade Syvret to Flyers

HEY! BLOG NERDS! Wake the fuck up and smash this through your eyeholes: it's a real, live, actual, honest-to-Pisani, mothertouching BLOG POST from your deliquent pals at the presumably defunct CinO!

Are you FEELING IT? Yeah? Could you maybe feel mine for me? Great. See you at 7. BYOB.

Anyhow, check it, fools: the Oilers indulged in some hot third-rounder-on-third-rounder action today, trading defenceman Danny Syvret to the Flyers in exchange for AHL centreman Ryan Potulny. From the Canwest News Service:

The Edmonton Oilers added depth at forward on Friday, acquiring centreman Ryan Potulny from the Philadelphia Flyers.

In exchange, the Flyers receive defenceman Danny Syvret.

Potulny, 23, scored 21 goals and 26 assists for the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, during the 2007-08 season. He also had one assist in seven National Hockey League games with the Flyers.

The Flyers’ third-round (87th overall) selection in the 2003 entry draft has scored seven goals and seven assists in 44 career NHL games.

The six-foot, 190-pound native of Grand Forks, N.D., played three seasons with the University of Minnesota prior to joining the Flyers’ organization.

Syvret, 22, was drafted by the Oilers in the third round (81st overall) in the 2005 entry draft. He scored two goals and 18 assists in 63 regular season games this past season with the Springfield Falcons and Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

“Ryan was a good player for our organization, but this was a deal based on a need, as we added depth to our defence,” said Philadelphia general manager Paul Holmgren.

Syvret scored 34 goals and 88 assists in parts of four seasons with the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights prior to joining the Oilers organization.

He was part of Canada’s gold-medal winning team at the 2005 world junior championship in Grand Forks.
So, do I have some analysis? DO I HAVE SOME ANALYSIS?

Well, no. But great seeing you guys again! Let's stay in touch.

In the meantime, why don't you just go ahead and enjoy some Phil Collins.

About time someone posted on here. Lazy pricks.

Anyway, I assume this means one of our young centres is gone at the draft (Schremp in an American-flag emblazoned package?), unless Kevin Lowe was honestly concerned about the Falcons' second-line depth.

"American-flag emblazoned package" and "Robbie Schremp"? no double-entendre there!

Against All Odds... the Oilers executed a trade.
Against All Odds... Jeff Bridges (& beard) made a romantic football movie.
Against All Odds... Phil Collins is still AWFUL!

I say it with love, because this is a great blog, but consider the possibility that the "go all" thing is played out.
