Game time once again, sirs

8:00 PM MTN
TV: Sportsnet Pacific (also try Centre Ice or the regional Sportsnet package)
Radio: 630 CHED
Webcast: yep, on the Oilers' site

Tonight's lineup for the Oilers has not been set yet, but expect a less potent roster. Dwayne Roloson will get the start and expect Jordan Eberle, Jason Strudwick, Andrew Cogliano, Zack Stortini and Gilbert Brule to play. The Canucks will be suiting up the following losers:

Hordichuk - Sedin - Hansen
Demitra* - Hodgson - Bernier
Bolduc - Cullen - Burrows
Grabner - Johnson - Brown

McIver - Salo
Kraijeck - Fitzgerald
Sauve - Bieksa
Nyochlat, Ellington

Luongo
Sanford

Oh and I guess Jamal Mayers lives in my neighborhood now. I am usually so horrible at recognizing celebrities or whatever, but I heard some dude introduce "Jamal Mayers" to his mom at my local bakery/hippie coffee joint so I managed to sleuth this one out. Welcome to Bloor West, Jamal! I assure you that while the women at the Russian Deli might seem like ice queens at first, they actually have hearts of gold.

Shortly after scoring a hattrick. :-)

I predict that the line of Demitra - Hodgson - Bernier will be pure domination. And I expect that before the third period is over I will have drank myself into revelrous stupor.

Cheers!

I saw Eric Lindros today talking to some woman at Second Cup. I was listening in to see if they were talking about hockey. They were.

Tonight's game appears to be offered live on the Oilers website.

Every now and again I see Dan Hamhuis around Smithers. His dad is the Coca-Cola Rep for the entire area and I got to know him when I worked in retail.

Apparently Dan has quite a nice house outside of Smithers on Tyhee Lake. Never been invited there though. Can't imagine why not.

I once got Boris Mironov pregnant.

Thanks, DG!

Wow. It took all of five minutes of the first game I've watched in six months to hate Roberto Luongo and his glove.

BROOOOOWWN!!! er... BRODZIAAAAAK!

I don't envy Canucks fans having to suffer through that Moore's ad with Ryan Walters all year. Painnnnfull.

Grebeshkov and Gilbert have played better...

mike w said...

That was hilarious, wasn't it?

Huggy Bear is back!!!

Goalie-Thwak!

Thank the lord the Oilers don't have a mascot.

That's some cheeky pass by Trukhno. We've got some skilled guys on the big roster, but I'm not sure how many of them could have saucered that one.

I shook Ryan Walter's hand once. Well made, well priced, well dressed indeed.

Hooray for Jannick Hansen and Michael Grabner. Two other names you shall remember, hehehehe.

Apparently the only place people go to in Vancouver is Moore's, especially for their wedding day tuxedos.

temujin: Don't really need to bother remembering Hansen. He'll top out as a 4th line energy guy with the occasional PK duty. Grabner however, has an outside shot at being a top-6er.

I'm from Manitoba and follow the Moose regularly. The only bona-fide NHL prospect you've got on the farm is Schneider.

Because when she looks up at you, you want to look your best.

I see Markus Naslund had a fantastic game tonight.

Temujin said...

DG: I dont follow the Moose as much as I should. What about Krog? Didn't he lead the AHL in scoring?

Demitra is a piece of shit, btw.

Any Oilers stood out so far for you guys tonight? Stortini is just a damn beast. I havent been paying much attention. Too much beer and conversation.

Not with myself. Honest.

doritogrande said...

Um, Krog didn't play for the Moose last season, but he did lead the league in scoring on a stacked Chicago Wolves (ATL farm team) team. We had our own in-house top-10 AHL scorer, who your team gave the cold shoulder to. Brad Moran. Went back to Europe IIRC. Colby Genoway's a strong AHL option, but he's probably about the same level as Hansen. I don't know the newcomers yet.

Gilbert and Grebeshkov have stood out for me, on a bad note. They've been out of sync with each other. Strudwick's playing alright for a 7th D-man.

Temujin said...

Oh right, I knew that about Krog

Roloson with a nice save. Wow.

Two in a row! Holy shit!

@andy grabia: Whatever do you mean? That's some top-shelf acting there. Especially Darryl Williams' predatory grin.

And that's two in a row. "The following losers," indeed.

that is two in a row. wow. off to your first cup. enjoy the preseason. go 'nucks

@casomas: I have to take my gloating where I can get it. It's going to be a long, painful season in Canucks fandom, after all.

Temujin said...

I love how the Canuck faithful come out in droves after a win.

We are a classy bunch.

the sieve said...

@temujin: Why do you say "Demitra is a piece of shit"?

Black Dog said...

I love how two fans equals a "drove".
